Missing Photo

I went to my computer to process a photo for today, and couldn't get photoshop to open my shot. When I tried to reboot my computer wouldn't come up at all. It should be working by tomorrow, so I am going to hold a place for today's photo. (It also means I won't be entering the May Free Study on DPC.)
Here is what I would have uploaded yesterday. I might re-process it later, since I did it on my laptop and can't really tell what it looks like!

Abstraction

The colors are a bit manipulated, but this is how the photo turned out--the result of being in an odd position while hand holding with a macro lens!

An End, and A Beginning

Last night my middle son graduated from high school. He was excited, yet a little nervous that his life would soon be changing. It is certainly a time in life where possibilities seem endless, and the future is there for the taking.

More Fence

This fence is on the other side of the prairie from Saturday's posting. I was going to use the bottom version in the DPC Selective Desat challenge, but I went with something different. (It's not scoring well, so maybe I should have used this shot!)

Not a Dandelion

I have no idea what this is, so I included the bottom two shots in case it helps to identify it. The "bloom" was at least 3 inches across.

Fenceline

I got up at 5:00 this morning to go on a field trip to shoot prairie flowers with my camera club. Took this while I was there. I am NOT a morning person, and I am now needing a nap!

Sunrise

These are both versions of the same shot. This is a yellow rose with backlighting, and it turned out the colors of the first version. The bottom shot was used in the black and white challenge on DPC, and was done with curves, levels and USM.

Keeping Watch

This is my dog, Harley. We had just opened the window, and he had to see what was going on outside.

He does not like to have his picture taken, and I knew I would not have time to set up my tripod and figure out the best angle, so I tried using ISO 1600. When that still wasn't fast enough for hand held, I used the flash (without changing the ISO), so I blame Harley for the grain! I wish I could have moved the chair and just used the light from the window... maybe another day!

Highway 65

This is the color version of my b&w challenge entry. It was taken where Highway 65 goes over the James River.

Wildflower

I went on a field trip to a wilderness area with my camera club today. We hiked about 3 or 4 miles up and down hills, over rocks, through a stream (many times) and I can hardly move now. I can't even remember what the name of this flower is!

Reflections of a Bridge

Along the South Creek Greenway Trail.

South Creek Trail Bridge

I have shown photos of the South Creek Greenway Trail before. If you start at Close Memorial Park and go west, the trail is more rural looking, with trees, the creek, and houses. If you go east it is urban. The path crosses several busy streets, but most have tunnels that go underneath. There was no way to tunnel under this street, so they built a bridge. Ramps were used instead of stairs, so that bicyclists could easily cross.

Ready to Fly

This shot reminds me of my two sons who are still at home. One will graduate high school this month, and my youngest has almost completed his first year of high school. Both are learning to become more independent, and adulthood is looming ever nearer.

A Journey Begins

I am doing a 30 day side challenge on DPC--Black & White. This is my shot for Day 1.
