Reflections from a Parking Garage

I was on the top of a parking garage (and I climbed 6 flights of stairs to get there!) taking shots of downtown. As I was walking back to the stairs I noticed the reflection. I don't ever do self portraits, but I liked this one, so here it is.

National Cemetery

The National Cemetery was created two years after the end of the Civil War. Soldiers from both the North and the South were interred, but were separated by a low stone wall.

The top shot was taken along the Galloway Creek Greenways Trail, which goes through Sequiota Park. The bottom shot is one of the play areas in the park.

Sequiota Park

Taken yesterday morning at Sequiota Park. It was another beautiful, warm day. The sky was really that blue and there were nice clouds to add some interest.

Bare

I almost entered this in the DPC Tree challenge, but decided not to. The sky really was this blue this morning, and I liked the patterns made by the clouds.

Springfield Conservation Nature Center

It is in the 60's F here today and the sun is shining. Just had to be outside, so I went to the Nature Center. These are the steps going up from the trails to the educational building.

Portraits

My camera club has portrait sessions, and I finally decided to attend one. I tend not to shoot people much, and never portraits--I just don't have the models or the equipment. The shoot was so much fun, I ended up with over 300 shots! It took forever to go through them all, but I finally made it, and these are 4 of my favorites.

Carlisle Power Transmission

Actually took this a couple of weeks ago for the "Where I Live" challenge on DPC. Even though Springfield is not an industrial city, there are a few areas like this.

Glasses

Taken yesterday at Bangkok City, a Thai restaurant on Walnut Street. I wasn't happy with this shot, so I used it to experiment on. This is inverted with a lot of curves, levels, hue/sat, shadow/highlight tweaking.

1147 E Walnut Street

I ate lunch with a friend today at a restaurant on Walnut Street. It is a historic district of mostly Victorian houses, many of which have been turned into businesses. This house is now a lawyer's office.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is from a bouquet my son is giving his girlfriend later today. I don't really like this shot, but I have a cold and don't feel like doing it over!

This was taken as I was leaving The Library Center today. This is the periodical room and a place you can take your coffee (in a covered cup) to relax and read.

Went to Fuddruckers (a hamburger chain) last night, and my camera came with me!

Flowering Weed in Winter

It is 66 degrees F today, so my dog, my camera and I took a long walk along part of the South Creek Greenway Trail. This is an urban trail and is part of the Ozark Greenways Trails. More information can be found here: http://www.ozarkgreenways.org/trails.html. I didn't have my macro lens and it was very windy, but I am pretty happy with the way this turned out.
Don't know where my original upload went, but this is the same shot. Maybe it will stay put this time!

As the Sun Rises, the Moon Sets

The top shot was taken from my deck looking west as the sun was rising.
The bottom shot is my front door, for those that wanted to see the side panels in context. Not a great shot, but there are no good angles or lighting!

KFC To Go

I was at a portrait shoot with my camera club, and got done in time to pick up supper. This is a drive thru at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

"Stained Glass"

The look of stained glass in the side panels of my front door. There are 3 panes on each side of the door. The top shot is all 3 panes from the right side. I inverted the shot as that seemed to add some interest. The bottom shot is the middle pane from above in normal colors.

Umbrella and Snow

I went outside yesterday with the intent of getting a macro snow shot, and took the umbrella to keep my camera dry. I couldn't hold the umbrella and adjust the camera, so I had to put the umbrella down. It was way too cold for me (20F with quite a bit of wind), my hands were freezing and I couldn't adjust the tripod, so I tried to get a few shots hand held. Tried to get close to the snowflakes, but it just didn't work out. Took the umbrella inside, but the snowflakes melted by the time I got my tripod in, so I just gave up. My hands hurt for about 20 minutes.
